PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION

         

A major in Public Administration prepares students for careers in the public and nonprofit sectors. It provides students with the necessary skills to become dynamic leaders in the 21 st century. Employment may include fields such as local, state, or federal government, non-profit management, international organizations, healthcare, and public service. Core classes will be in areas of political science, economics, quantitative analysis, business and social sciences. A student majoring in Public Administration is trained to make certain that public institutions and programs run effectively and efficiently, ultimately improving the overall quality of life. Some of the skills that students will learn include: personnel management, preparing budgets, goal-setting, and decision-making.
