·         Cumulatively have taught five sections of Introduction to Comparative Politics and three sections of Government and Politics of Latin America.

·         Select supplemental readings to enhance learning experience outside of class.

·         Prepare lesson plans and lectures, as well as create relevant, challenging assignments for students.

·         Grade assignments and tests, as well as final research papers.

·         Maintain regular schedule of office hours for student tutoring and other questions.

 

Department of Portuguese and Lusophone World Studies, Instructor, Winters 2003 - 2004

  • Taught two sections each three week winter term of elementary and intermediate Portuguese.
  • Sponsored several Saturday morning trips to the Ironbound section of Newark to provide a real-world laboratory for students to enhance their speaking and listening skills.
  • Supervised language lab for providing additional assistance with aural and speaking skills.

·         Study surveyed 150 international college students (F-1 visa holders) to see if a correlation existed between perception of their native countries and their perception of the United States, its inhabitants, and its government.

·         Assisted in the preparation of survey questionnaire; formatted questionnaire into an attractive and user-friendly design.

·         Oversaw data collection; tabulated and tallied data using SPSS.

·         Located books, articles, and other requested research information.

·         Proofread draft and final reports for publication submission.

·         Designed a supplement to AIDS awareness program for Latin America, focusing primarily on Brazil.
