CHOOSING A MAJOR / CAREER PATH

Choosing and/or changing your major/career path is a unique process that varies tremendously between different individuals. In general, career planning involves identifying one's skills, interests, values, and personality traits and learning which career paths would be a good fit based upon this information. The Career Development Center offers a wide selection of resources and tools to help you successfully complete such a self-inventory and from there, make both short-term and long-term career plans.

Develop an ACTION PLAN so that you can make the most of your collegiate experience and prepare yourself for "life after college".

Schedule an appointment to meet with a professional Career Counselor one-on-one. You may send an e-mail with "appointment request" typed in the subject line of your e-mail OR dial 1-973-353-5311 to make your appointment. Allow me to introduce your Career Development Center staff members.

Gather ideas about likely career paths that are compatible to your interests and / or personality type through use of a VOCATIONAL ASSESSMENT. One of our Career Counselors can review the results of the assessment with you and help you intpret your results.

Learn more about potential career directions and decisions through the Alumni Mentors (Career) Network. This is a database of successful Rutgers graduates from the Camden, New Brunswick, and Newark campuses who have volunteered to act as Mentors and share their career experiences and knowledge with current students as well as other alumni.
