Portuguese Studies Internship Guidelines

The criteria, eligibility requirements and procedures for Internship Programs are determined by the academic departments and supported by the Career Development Center. Universal requirements for the campus do not exist; each academic department, often with guidance from the Career Development Center, designs its own program. Employers and students may contact the Career Development Center for further information - 973-353-5311.

No

How are internships approved by the department?

Internships require special permission and fluency in Portuguese. This program was developed by the Department contact listed above and she arranges the placement sites. For more information read about the internship program from the Department's web site:
http://andromeda.rutgers.edu/~plws/internships.htm

If students would like to engage in internships that they found on their own, or through the Career Development Center, it is the decision of the academic department as to whether or not credit will be awarded. If the experience is not deemed eligible for credit to be awarded, students may engage in that experience for career development purposes only and either volunteer or accept pay for their work. If the employer requires that credit be given, then the student can not accept the internship unless the Department deems it credit-bearing. The Career Development Center maintains volunteer and paid internships in a password protected area of the Center's web site called eRecruiting. Students must attend a eRecruiting Activation Meeting to access these internship listings.
