Yes |
| How
are internships approved by the department? |
Descriptions
of field/internship experiences, written by the organization and/or
employer must be approved on a case-by-case basis by the department
contact listed above before registration for the internship. To
obtain an internship for approval, students attend a
eRecruiting
Activation Meeting at the Career Development Center
so that they may access internship listings on a section of the
Center's web site called eRecruiting
and/or seek out positions on their own. |
| The
following characteristics must be present for credit to be issued: |
Students
may complete one or two semesters of an internship, for 3 or 6 credits,
with an international organization, NGO, government agency, transnational
corporation, or other institution active in some aspect of global
affairs. Internships generally entail one day of work per week for
the duration of the semester. Full-time summer internships count
for 6 credits. Internships must be approved by the student's faculty
advisor and one of the CGCG's co-Directors. In order to receive
credit for internships, students must submit a report to their CGCG
faculty advisor for a grade. Students may be paid by the sponsoring
agency for their work. Students are encouraged to seek out internships
of particular interest to them and/or to consult with the Career
Development Center. |
