Students on the Plaza

As COVID-19 continues to adjust our services at the Career Development Center, we wanted to share with you that our office is remote: accessible by phone, email, or other virtual means at this time. Below you will see the most updated information on how you can seek our assistance.

Access to Oppportunities

  • Postings: Rutgers-Newark Handshake will continue to be a source for internships, jobs, volunteering, and other opportunities, as we approve hundreds of new opportunities daily. In addition, New Jersey has launched a Jobs and Hiring Portal that shares immediate hiring needs across the state.
  • Spring Career Fair: As you have seen in our recent announcement, this event is now virtual, and can be accessed here
  • AMA events: Starting April 1, Handshake will be hosting daily “Ask me Anything” virtual sessions with different career center experts—any student can sign up to attend and ask questions about careers, internships, summer plans, interviews, and more. The person answering questions won’t necessarily be from our university, but they will be professionals from other universities who have their own expertise to share. The AMA sessions will take place every weekday from April 1 - April 17 at Noon PST/3pm EST. You don’t have to register, just click on this link to join the standing Zoom call every day at Noon PST/3pm EST.
  • On-Campus Interviews: We are reaching out to any employers/recruiters who have arranged for an on-campus interview schedule with our office, to convert those to virtual interviews. Updated information will be shared in Rutgers-Newark Handshake.
  • Please note: if you are currently interning, working, or volunteering, or if you have been invited to visit an organization (for an interview, site visit, or another purpose), we encourage you to reach out to that organization for guidance regarding attendance. If you are currently receiving academic credit for your experience, please reach out to your instructor for guidance.
